The Association for Animal Science and Production (ASPA) and the European Federation of Animal Husbandry (EAAP) are pleased to welcome you to the 75th annual meeting of the European Association for Production Animals, which will be held in Florence from 1 to 5 September 2024.

Florence is one of the most important art cities in Italy. An exceptional wealth of monuments, historical sites, museums and churches that represent the cultural heritage and artistic heritage of Florence, considered the capital of the Renaissance.

Florence is the capital of Tuscany, a region located in the heart of Italy, and known around the world for its beautiful hilly agricultural landscapes, the best country houses of Chianti, its wines, olive oil, the largest native bovine breed “Chianina” and the Florentine steak. These products represent the Italian excellence of agriculture. During the EAAP congress, social events will be hosted in some of the most spectacular places in the city and will offer the opportunity to taste some of them directly these products.

The general theme of the congress is “Global quality: environment, animals, Food ‘. The congress will be divided into several parallel scientific sessions, in which research results covering the entire field of animal sciences will be presented and discussed, together with the presentation of the main ongoing research projects.

We received an incredibly large number of abstracts, a record for the annual conference: more than 1800 abstracts compared to around 1300 at previous EAAP annual meetings. These abstracts come from 60 different countries around the world! The number of participants is already close to 2000 people.

The title of the plenary session that will be organized on September 2nd August is: Reassessing our Relationship with Farmed Animals.

Italy has the largest number of PDO and PGI products.

Various technical tours will be organized to discover the breeding systems and biodiversity of the Mediterranean (Maremma beef cattle, Cinta Senese pigs, dairy buffalo farms), the Tuscan agricultural landscapes (Chianti hills, rural residences, cellars), the high-quality DOP productions. of Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma and San Daniele, Tuscan Pecorino and Tuscan ham.
