Meet the EAAP Industry Club: A Conversation with CJ BIO

A new initiative has been launched to recognize and highlight companies driving innovation, research excellence, and sustainability across the livestock and animal science sectors. This series will feature conversations with industry leaders who are shaping the future of animal nutrition, health, welfare, and environmental stewardship. The series begins with an exclusive interview with Behnam Saremi, Director of EMEA Technical Marketing at CJ BIO. Here’s what he shared with us. 

1) Could you introduce yourself, your company, and its core mission within the industry? 

I’m Behnam Saremi, Director of EMEA Technical Marketing at CJ BIO. I work at the intersection of science and market needs—translating research into practical nutrition solutions that help producers improve performance, resilience, and sustainability. CJ BIO is a business unit of CJ CheilJedang, with a long history in fermentation-based biotech-ingredients for feed and food. Our mission is captured well by our philosophy: technologies inspired by nature that give back to nature—helping the livestock industry produce more efficiently while reducing environmental impact.  

2) What recent scientific or technological advancements is your company most proud of? 

Two areas stand out: 

  • Advanced fermentation and process innovation: We keep improving the efficiency and consistency of our fermentation platforms—important for producing high-quality bio-based ingredients at scale.  
  • Lower-carbon product pathways and life-cycle thinking: CJ has been developing and assessing lower-emission bio-based products, including work that evaluates sustainability benefits through life cycle assessment (LCA) approaches.
