A Year of Science and Networking: Looking Back at 2025

As 2025 comes to a close, EAAP is proud to have continued serving our dedicated community of 7,000 members from across Europe and around the globe. This year was defined by knowledge sharing. Our Annual Meeting in Innsbruck was an extraordinary success, hosting over 1,500 participants and featuring a nearly equal number of presentations and posters. However, EAAP’s commitment extended far beyond this main event. Throughout 2025, we organized four additional strategic conferences: the Regional Meeting for Central-Eastern European countries in Krakow, the “AI for Animal Science” Workshop in Zurich, the Insect Genetics Workshop in Athens, and the Companion Animals Workshop in Milan. These workshops were very appreciated, providing unique networking and dissemination opportunities for specialized areas often underrepresented in the broader animal science landscape. Each event was a resounding success, attracting between 100 and 250 participants. Crucially, these gatherings directly shaped the future of our organization; two of the workshops led to the creation of new Working Groups dedicated to AI and Companion Animals. Furthermore, we established a new EAAP Study Commission to address the vital sector of Poultry Research, while dissolving dormant working groups to streamline our structure and ensure maximum efficiency. Our dedication to disseminating science remained strong through numerous webinars—each attended by 100 to 250 participants—and our well-known journals, animal and Animal Frontiers. We also produce a highly informative bi-weekly newsletter, translated into 10 languages, with the English version sent to all our members, which is read by a verified audience of approximately 3,000 people. We also actively supported the dissemination of several EU projects, ensuring they received the widest and most qualified reach possible. In 2025, EAAP also consolidated the Industry Club. Now active for over two years, the Club brings together academic researchers and private sector experts to foster a diverse and comprehensive vision. Currently, there are 19 Industry Club members, with many major animal breeding companies actively involved. Once again, EAAP has honoured its mission: fostering excellence through global networking. Thank you for being part of this community; let’s continue to innovate and grow together. Looking ahead, we are planning for a significant and high-quality turnout at next year’s Annual Meeting, which will be held in September in Hamburg. Our agenda for the coming year also includes workshops on the environmental impact of animal production (in April), a “Mediterranean” workshop (May), a focus on Mountain Livestock farming (June), the second “AI for Animal Science” workshop (also in June), and a meeting on the importance of integrators in animal feeding (May). Finally, close to the end of the year, we will host a major workshop in cooperation with the FAO titled “One Nutrition”. Naturally, our webinar series and EU research project collaborations will continue with full momentum. EAAP is dedicated to these efforts with the sole aim of offering the highest level of service to the international animal science community, and we sincerely hope that our members find value in our continued dedication.
