After 35 years, the World Association of Animal Production (WAAP) convened in Europe, marking its return to the continent since the last meeting held in Helsinki in 1988. A few weeks ago, in Lyon, WAAP co-hosted a highly successful conference alongside the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP), boasting impressive participation and maintaining a high level of scientific presentations. In addition to the scientific sessions, the WAAP General Assembly conducted the election of a new President and Council members. Frank Dunshea (Australia) was chosen as the new President and will serve in this capacity from 2023 to 2028. We extend our gratitude to the outgoing President, Philippe Chemineau, who managed to enhance the range of services provided to WAAP members during his tenure, even amidst the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The newly elected Council members of WAAP, who will serve for the next five years, include Jim Sartin (USA), Abelardo Conde Pulgarin (Colombia), Isabel Casasús (Spain), Metha Wanapat (Thailand), and the immediate Past-President, Philippe Chemineau (France). Moreover, Melbourne, Australia, was chosen as the location for the next WAAP conference scheduled for 2028.
